Located in the Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, the Highland Center for the Arts is a unique community gathering spot showcasing the region’s best performing artists. The 26,400 SF theatre boasts a 250-seat capacity, dressing rooms, administrative suite, dance studio, and a 40-seat dining café.
The building is heated and cooled utilizing a closed loop geothermal heat pump system. The system consists of 20 deep wells that transfer heat stored in the ground into the buildings’ HVAC system. During construction, extensive sound attenuating insulation was used to minimize any potential background noise from disrupting performances. Overall New England Air Systems exceeded expectations on this challenging project and earned the AGC Best Specialty Builder Award of 2017.
